Blood Demand: Basic Instinct 3It’s a sad commentary on our society that most of us wouldn’t read this but for the title. We have turned into tongue hanging, saliva dripping, gore-hungry couch potatoes and the media is horror mongering on that. As we all blame the media for misrepresenting Arushi-Hemraj murder case, we also intently read her personal emails and messages with great interest. While fuel prices mildly interest us, we crave to see how many ‘affairs’ Arushi had or how ‘compromising’ was her situation. Then we all blame it on Ekta Kapoor for using a murder case to increase her TRPs.

What’s wrong with the media saying what we want to hear or showing what we want to see? How else will it survive in a society where “only sex and Shahrukh Khan sell”? Blaming only the media is like curing the symptom and not the cause. News channels have become entertainment channels because of the demand. I don’t know anyone in my family who listens to the dull monotone of an ordinary looking news reader on Doordarshan. When will we realize that the problem and the solution both lie in us?

@ ”only sex and Shahrukh Khan sell”

Well said. I wonder how many time have the armchair commentators changed their channels to avoid these events. It is high time we boycott such things. Let Arushi rest in peace! Why create a drama out of her death?

It is simply sadistic to see how we get pleasure out of a heinous crime. Postmortem isn’t enough for us, we dig the grave without any respect for a departed soul. we blame the news channels or Ekta Kapoor, but isn’t it the all-pervasive audience behind such blood-thirsty reporting. After all, they can escape under the guise of business, while we are entertained as if we are watching a mega-starrer sensational film. It is high time, we stopped being so hypocritical, who knows next thing on the TV channels can be any one of us. May their souls rest in peace.

Ritika Kaushik:

You are simply pathetic. Explain your header "Blood Demand: Basic Instinct 3"

Kindly don't be a sensationalist.

You need to be flogged with your pants down with your sweet posterior presented to the public and lashed. In the S&M killings like Blood Diamond intercoursed with the kinky sex in Basic Instinct.

I can't believe what I am seeing now.

The purpose of the title was to show how sensational headers grab attention as explained in the first line. Seems like you missed the sarcasm.

Arsalan, A sane person will never post such a comment on a sensible site.
Did you visit a psychiatrist resently?

No! You must.

Right to some extent, but none of us is trying to get monetary gains out of this tragic tale just like Ekta Kapoor is trying to do! So, dont u think this is more heinous than us!!

@ Arsalan
Who are you to judge and give your dumb comment regarding the write up, when everyone else is feeling that it is an excellent article? It requires a humane side and a lot of grey matter in your brains to understand the pathos and tragedy the family is undergoing at present, so instead of ’demanding’ an explanation of the title, better try to applaud the efforts of Ritika. The kind of comment you have posted is highly offensive, and please keep your sexist outlook to yourself.

Hey Arun!
’'Behave yourself... You want me to send the link to your family?’', reminded me of one of my school teachers.
Good one! :)

Good article but wrong title. All said and done what went wrong in the Arushi household? Every body really wants to know

Arrey Padmaja, there are already lot of conspiracies on TV: the saahu-bahu soaps. Why do you want a new one?? Ultimately the users get bored and these things fade off without a proper ending. But the only thing is that they are playing with real emotions this time... especially of students... which can be dangerous.
